To attain this vision, the department committed itself by:
The pharmacy department is devoted to provide dynamic, quality academic instructions and effective training skills to pharmacy students, thus empowering them to become outstanding, competent members of the patient-centered healthcare team.
Saint Gabriel College School of Pharmacy (SGCSOP) was founded in 2014 and earned full government recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in 2018. SGCSOP has been under the management of Dean Richie Bayuran from 2014 to the present and started with fourteen (14) pioneer graduates in the Academic Year 2018. The school participated in various research endeavors and won different categories of presentations, leading to publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Likewise, the laboratory facilities continued to flourish and upgraded to meet the students’ needs in the Pharmaceutical, Biological, and Chemical Sciences fields. The SGCSOP is working collaboratively with the College School of Technical Vocational Education by providing qualified and licensed pharmacists as the academic framework for the Diploma in Pharmacy Technology under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. As of 2023, the SGCSOP continued to produce thirty-eight (18) homegrown Akeanon Pharmacists. In 2024, the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program passed the Associate membership to the Philippine Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the unified monitoring of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and CHED.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy is the fourth Baccalaureate degree program opened by the College in 2014. The program typically involves a combination of classroom learning, laboratory work, and hands-on training in a pharmacy setting. Students in a pharmacy program deal with different pharmacy subjects such as pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacotherapy, pharmacy law and ethics, patient care, and medication management. SGCSOP also offers clinical rotations or internships in community pharmacies, hospitals, manufacturing firms, institutional pharmacies, and regulatory and public healthcare settings to provide real-world experience and prepare students for future careers as pharmacists. Upon completion of a pharmacy program, students are typically conferred with a degree as graduates of BS in Pharmacy, which the Professional Regulation Commission requires before becoming a licensed pharmacist. The SGCSOP sincerely commits to providing quality education to future Pharmacists, as they play a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, counseling patients on their medications, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to optimize patient care. Thus, the SGCSOP’s core values significantly acclaimed that for a Pharmacy student to become successful, he/she must S-T-R-I-V-E by never wasting TIME when there is a CHANCE to LEARN and embrace the CHANCE where there is TIME to LEARN. This is the ultimate mantra of SGCSOP.
